Carroll W. Suggs
Carroll W. Suggs served until 2001 as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Petroleum Helicopters, Inc., a worldwide provider of helicopter transportation and emergency medical services to the offshore oil and gas industry, government agencies and other institutions. Her community service has been dedicated to the causes of education, community development and medical research.
Mrs. Suggs currently serves on the Board of Taylor Energy Company, the New Orleans Advisory Board for Iberia Bank, and the National World War II Museum Board of Trustees. She is Chairman of the Jefferson Parish Ethics and Compliance Commission and Xavier University's Board of Visitors, and President of the Louisiana Women’s Forum.
She is a board member of the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation, the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium, the LSU Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Engineering, and LSU’s College of Engineering Diversity Advisory Board, the LSU Healthcare Network Board, and Vice Chairman of the Greater New Orleans LSU Advisory Board. Mrs. Suggs is also a member of the Foundation for Science and Mathematics Education, the Metropolitan Crime Commission, the Business Council of Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business and Tulane Energy Institute. She was recently appointed to the Health Education Authority of Louisiana.
Mrs. Suggs has been the recipient of many prestigious awards, including being honored as one of the Ten Outstanding Persons of 2013 by Family Services of Greater New Orleans. She also received the 2001 Weiss Award from the National Conference of Community and Justice, the 2000 Katharine B. Wright Award from The National Aeronautic Association, the Pro Patria Award from the U.S. Secretary of Defense, the 1999 Distinguished Public Service Award from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Coast Guard, a Junior Achievement Hall of Fame Business Leader Award, the 1992 Role Model of the Year Award from the Young Leadership Council, and the 1991 Alumnae Recognition Award from Louise S. McGehee School.
